National School Counseling Week

February 7-11 is National School Counseling Week, and Canterbury School's Early Childhood - Middle School Counselor Ashley Bunn let us know what she's been up to this year to support our families.

Bunn is a regular chapel guest at the Lower School, presenting "Mindful Monday" each week, and her focus in Middle School chapel is mental health. Her guidance lessons come once a month in Lower School, focusing on virtues (responsibility, honesty, kindness, perseverance, etc.), life skills, and mental health. In the Middle School, they discuss digital citizenship, depression, and suicide prevention.

Small groups are an important part of Bunn's role at Canterbury. She leads small groups on topics such as grief, social skills, friendship, growth mindset, coping skills, anxiety and worry, and conflict resolution.

In her three and half years at Canterbury so far, Bunn has had 534 check-ins from students. This year alone she's had check-ins from 44 Early Childhood students, 91 Lower School students, and 56 Middle School students.

It's clear that Bunn is an asset to Canterbury School, supporting not only our students and their families, but also our staff. Thanks for all you do, Ashley!
