Canterbury Students Named Candidates for U.S. Presidential Scholars Program

Canterbury School proudly announces that members of the Class of 2026, Rohan Khatri and Ishan Ramrakhiani, have been named candidates for the prestigious U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

Established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President by President Johnson, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was created to recognize and honor some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Candidates are selected by invitation only. Approximately 4,000 students nationwide are identified each year based on exceptional SAT or ACT performance or through competitive nomination by a Chief State School Officer in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.

For more than 60 years, this unique federal program has honored more than 8,000 U.S. Presidential Scholars who exemplify scholarship, leadership, and meaningful contributions to their schools and communities.
Khatri and Ramrakhiani represent two of only four U.S. Presidential Scholar candidates from Fort Wayne this year—an achievement that reflects not only their individual dedication and talent, but also the culture of academic excellence at Canterbury.

“We are incredibly proud of Rohan and Ishan,” said Marie Leary, Canterbury Head of School. “Being named Presidential Scholar candidates is a rare and meaningful honor—one that reflects years of disciplined effort, genuine intellectual curiosity, and the kind of leadership and service that strengthens a community. Rohan and Ishan represent Canterbury at its very best.”

The final selection of U.S. Presidential Scholars will be announced later this spring.

The Canterbury community congratulates Rohan and Ishan on this distinguished honor and wishes them the very best in the next stage of the selection process.
