Canterbury Students Earn National Recognition in Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Canterbury School is proud to celebrate an extraordinary achievement by several student artists, who received national honors in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards during Spring Break.

Three students earned top distinctions at the national level, a significant accomplishment that places their work among the best young artists in the country. In total, Canterbury students received three National Gold Medals and one National Silver Medal:

  • Brooklynn Deane — National Gold Medal, “Together in Solitude”
  • Brooklynn Deane — National Silver Medal, “Be the Better You”
  • Braeden Melo Rolland — National Gold Medal, “A Man Forgotten”
  • Estelle Pasko — National Gold Medal, “Untitled”

In addition to these honors, Brooklynn Deane’s “Together in Solitude” and Estelle Pasko’s “Untitled” were selected for inclusion in the National Exhibition, meaning their work may be featured in a traveling exhibition and a national publication.

As national award recipients, these students are also eligible for additional scholarships and have been invited to attend a special recognition ceremony at Carnegie Hall this summer alongside peers from across the country.

The celebration extends beyond the students. Canterbury educators were also recognized for their excellence, with both Lily Fenoglio (first-year educator) and Trevor Campbell earning the title of Outstanding Educator at the national level. This recognition highlights the strength of Canterbury’s arts program and the dedication of its teachers. Special congratulations go to Lily for this remarkable achievement in her first year of teaching.

Canterbury is incredibly proud of these students and educators for their hard work, creativity, and commitment to artistic excellence. The entire school community joins in congratulating them on this outstanding accomplishment.
