Canterbury School Partners with GoKid

In an effort to address the need for alternative school transportation, Canterbury School is excited to announce a new partnership with GoKid, a leading school carpooling program. The partnership empowers parents to organize carpools with other school parents on a secure app-based platform, with the additional benefit of reducing local traffic congestion and emissions. 

Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, Canterbury families will have access to GoKid’s innovative carpooling platform, making it easy for families at the same school who live near each other to find each other, begin chats, and set up carpools using GoKid’s carpool management technology. 

This service not only eases the daily school commute for families that are too far from school to walk or bike, but can also help strengthen school community within neighborhoods. GoKid’s software also measures miles and CO2 saved.

Key Benefits of the GoKid Program:

  1. Reduced Traffic and Pollution: By facilitating carpooling among families, the program aims to lower the number of individual car trips, saving parents time and decreasing traffic and air pollution. 
  2. Convenient and Easy-to-Use: Parents will receive an Invitation Email from GoKid in late July 2026 with a step-by-step guide to register, find families, and set up carpools. The user-friendly app allows families to initiate chats and organize carpools efficiently.
  3. Premium Features for Free: Canterbury families will enjoy all of GoKid’s premium features, valued at $50 per year, at no cost. These features include advanced scheduling, automatic reminders, GPS navigation, and live tracking of the car during the carpool to ensure peace of mind.
  4. Voluntary Participation: While the program is designed to benefit all Canterbury families, participation is optional. Parents who prefer not to participate can easily opt out by following the instructions in the Invitation Email.
