Canterbury Robotics Earns First Place Control Award, Advances to State Tournament
This past weekend, Canterbury’s Robotics Team traveled to South Bend to compete in its third tournament of the season—and returned home with both hardware and momentum.
The team was selected to compete in the playoff rounds and earned the First Place Control Award for excellence in programming. The award recognizes a team that demonstrates innovative use of sensors and software to enhance a robot’s performance during gameplay.

According to competition guidelines, “The Control Award celebrates a team that uses sensors and software to increase the ROBOT’S functionality during gameplay. This award is given to the team that demonstrates innovative thinking and solutions to solve game challenges such as autonomous operation, improving mechanical systems with intelligent control, or using sensors to achieve better results.”
Senior Clara Satter, Canterbury’s lead programmer, played a pivotal role in the team’s success. Her leadership and technical expertise were instrumental in developing the advanced programming systems that earned the team top honors.
With their strong performance in South Bend, the team has officially qualified for the State Tournament, scheduled for mid-March. The students have already begun their final build of the season in preparation for competition on March 14.
