Canterbury Latin Team Captures First Place at Harvard Certamen
Canterbury’s Latin students continue to distinguish themselves on the national stage, most recently earning a first-place victory at the prestigious Harvard Certamen held at Boston Latin School.

The team of Gavin Beuchel, Cameron Fullhart, Lucas Jackson, and Colin P. delivered an exceptional performance, going undefeated throughout the competition and outperforming 17 schools from across the East Coast to secure the championship title. In addition to the team’s first-place finish, Lucas Jackson and Cameron Fullhart were each named tournament MVPs after tying for the honor.
The Harvard victory marks another milestone in an already remarkable season for Canterbury’s Latin program. Earlier this year, the team also captured first-place finishes at both Yale Certamen and the Indiana Junior Classical League Convention, demonstrating consistent excellence against top-tier competition.
With their strong season record, the team has earned the opportunity to represent Indiana at the National Junior Classical League Convention in July, where they will compete against leading Latin scholars from across the country.
Before heading to nationals, Canterbury will conclude its season next week at the Latin League competition finals, a national academic event featuring more than 67 teams in their division. Entering the finals, Canterbury currently holds the top position, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting finish to an outstanding season.
