All Inclusive Arts
From age 2 through Grade 12, Canterbury students have every opportunity to experience the arts in a variety of ways. From vocal and instrumental music to drama and dance to visual art and photography, fine arts courses are an important part of the school curriculum.

Every Student Makes the Team
At Canterbury, every student makes the team. The interscholastic sports program encourages individual participation and achievement by giving every student an opportunity to learn and play sports competitively. This policy of inclusion is at the core of Canterbury athletics.

A Community of Philanthropy
As an independent school, we design our own programs and curriculum and operate without reliance on local, state or federal taxes. Canterbury School relies on tuition income, Canterbury Fund contributions, endowment income and other fundraising activities to support our thriving college preparatory environment.

Summer Reading

At Canterbury School, we encourage families and students to make reading an ongoing part of their summer.

Regular reading develops multiple critical thinking skills, increases vocabulary and verbal proficiency, sparks the imagination, and provides vicarious experiences. And, it prepares students for academic excellence and helps foster a life-long love of literature and reading.

Canterbury School English Department representatives, in collaboration with school librarians and teachers, have created lists of titles for students in each division. Parents should click on the division their students will enter as of the 2023-24 school year to view the summer reading list; High School students should click the course they'll enter to view the reading list and additional instructions.
