In these unprecedented times, we have been working hard to continue the educational journey for each of our students, to retain our talented, dedicated faculty and staff, to retain and serve our caring, committed families and to ensure the long-term financial viability for our beloved Canterbury School.
We want to recognize the challenging financial realities facing so many within our school community. Given the strain of the current crisis in both our local and global communities, many Canterbury families are among those experiencing hardship. Whether families own or work in small businesses, the restaurant or hospitality industry, or are in professions that have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, we want our community to know that Canterbury School supports you.
With the unanimous support of Canterbury's Board of Trustees and Leadership Team, Canterbury has created the COVID-19 Tuition Assistance Program (CTAP) to provide assistance to offset the 2020-21 school year tuition for families who are enduring substantial financial hardship due to the COVID-19 stay-at-home mandate. The goal is to keep our community intact and to assist those families for whom this pandemic has caused a financial disruption or even complete loss of income.
We have designed a secure and confidential process for families who want to apply for funding from the CTAP. We will administer this process similar to our comprehensive process for need-based financial assistance. Assistance will be granted on a case-by-case basis, and will be limited to the resources available in the program. Our usual need-based financial assistance program for Canterbury families will continue as a separate program. If you anticipate the need for this emergency assistance, please register your interest as soon as possible through the form on this webpage. The sensitive financial information shared by families will remain confidential.
Canterbury's COVID-19 Tuition Assistance Program was established to ensure the financial sustainability of Canterbury School by providing assistance with tuition expenses for the 2020-21 school year. Spending will be at the discretion of a committee consisting of the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, Business Manager, and Director of Institutional Advancement. Given the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus and its implications for all of us, the steps we are communicating today may require adjustments in the future.
Please know that every family within the Canterbury community matters, and that we are working diligently to support those who have been adversely affected by the pandemic. We remain steadfastly confident in the future of Canterbury School and look forward to celebrating the day when we can return to campus. Canterbury will emerge from this moment as a stronger school because of the faith that our families have for our community and each other.
