Applying to Canterbury
Canterbury School is an accredited independent, college preparatory day school located in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The application must be completed and sent to the admissions office accompanied by a nonrefundable fee and a recent photograph to begin the admission process. Fees are $75 for Kindergarten (new to Canterbury only) and $35 for applicants new to Early Childhood and grades 1-12. Please select the form based on your child's age or grade level. The applicant or the applicant's school should send current transcript or school record from the applicant’s current school to the admissions office. (This is not necessary for Early Childhood applicants.)
Letters of recommendation
Two or three recommendations are required. Confidential recommendation forms will be mailed directly to the references listed on the student’s application to be completed and returned to Canterbury. (This is not necessary for Early Childhood applicants.)
Testing is required of all applicants. This includes general aptitude and achievement tests prepared by the Education Records Bureau (ERB). No special preparation is required. For Kindergarten, developmental and aptitude assessments are given. (This is not necessary for Early Childhood applicants.)
Applicants requesting admission to grades 5-8 (Middle School) and 9-12 (High School) are required to spend at least one day attending classes at Canterbury. Applicants requesting admission to grades 1-4 (Lower School) typically spend two days at Canterbury. Kindergarten applicants visit for half of a day. Early Childhood visits are scheduled for 45 minutes in the classroom with parent and child.
