Through your online admission application portal, you will complete several important steps that help us get to know your child and family more fully as part of our holistic admission process. Canterbury is committed to understanding each student as a whole person — their strengths, interests, and potential — so that we can determine the best possible match between the student, family, and school community.
School Records
Families will request that their child’s current school send official records directly to the Canterbury School Admissions Office. You’ll be prompted in the checklist to enter the name and email address of the school’s registrar or administrator. Once submitted, the system will contact the individual/school on your behalf. This secure, quick, and convenient process ensures Canterbury receives all required academic records.
Teacher Recommendations
Teacher recommendations provide valuable insight into your child’s classroom experience.
-
Early Childhood: If your child has a caregiver, nanny, or attends a daycare or early childhood program, please request a recommendation from them through the online portal. If not, this step is not required.
-
Grades K–6: One teacher recommendation is required.
-
Grades 7–12: Two teacher recommendations are required.
You will initiate these requests through the online application checklist by providing each teacher’s/individual's name and email address. All recommendations are submitted directly to Canterbury and remain confidential.
Parent Questionnaire
As part of our holistic approach, we ask parents to complete a brief questionnaire designed to help us understand your child more deeply — their personality, interests, and what you hope they will gain from a Canterbury education. This is an important step in building a partnership between your family and the school.
Student Questionnaire (Grades 7–12)
Applicants to Grades 7–12 are also asked to complete a student questionnaire. This allows students to share their interests, goals, and perspectives in their own words, helping us get to know them beyond their academic record.
