Leadership

The development of tomorrow’s leaders begins in Lower School. Within each classroom, beginning at Kindergarten, there are opportunities for children for children to develop leadership skills. Classroom jobs, attendance collection, lunchroom, Cavalier Helpers, Early Childhood buddy classes, classroom hosts, and Kindergarten “Yellow Pages” are just a few of the ways that leadership is taught and cultivated in Lower School. The Lower School curriculum itself also provides opportunities for students to work in small groups and take on specific leadership roles as group projects and activities are carried out.

Beyond the classroom, Student Council, Tech Team, Pet Helpers in the Science Lab, the Green Team, and Character Counts provide leadership opportunities, as well. Through discussions in the classroom students learn the characteristics of great leaders and how they can develop those traits within themselves.
