Clubs and Activities

In addition to monthly Chess lessons, Chess enrichment is available to any student in Kindergarten through Grade 4. Students meet weekly throughout the year with Chess Master Coach Jim Dean and there are additional opportunities for competition. Zero Gravity is an optional activity available to students in Grades 2-4. Students who choose to participate meet weekly at 7:00 a.m. to create, practice and perform a routine using jump ropes. The routine they develop is then performed at various events throughout the winter, such as Middle and High School basketball games, and even in local community events.

Children’s Choir is open to all students in Grades 2-4. Through Canterbury School’s Children’s Choir program, students will receive opportunities to perform a variety of challenging and beautiful music.

The student-focused ensemble will provide enriching opportunities and personal growth. Each student will be challenged to improve on fundamental skills of musicianship such as: sight-singing, ear training, balance, poise, and focus.

The Children’s Choir meets on Wednesdays from 8:00-8:30 a.m. In addition, each grade level meets for an additional sectional rehearsal each month.

Canterbury School’s enrichment programs offer additional educational and social programs to complement a student’s school day schedule. At Canterbury Lower School, our after-school enrichment programs are designed to cultivate independent thinkers, problem-solvers, and collaborative learners.
