Cav Open Golf Tournament

Funds raised are used to help with major purchases for the athletic department and to help underwrite training and professional development opportunities for our coaches. The event has funded scoreboards, scoring tables and sound systems for the High School and Middle School gyms, padding under the baskets, soccer goals and more.

The growth of Canterbury’s athletics program over the past four decades is a direct result of talented students, dedicated coaches and your commitment to supporting their progress.

In 1978 the first “home” games were played on the YWCA field and the first HS soccer team included seventh and eighth-graders to fill the squad, with only 10 jerseys among the 15 players.

Today, more than 80 percent of Canterbury students from grades 5-12 compete on teams in interscholastic

competitions. Canterbury fields more than 50 teams in 11 different sports, with students filling literally hundreds of roster spots each year throughout the fall, winter and spring seasons.

Canterbury’s philosophy of athletic inclusion reflects the belief that athletics is an integral part of a balanced education and thus should remain accessible to as many students as possible. While students work to develop athletics skills they also learn life skills including discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.
