Dress Code

Appropriate Daily Dress for Lower School Students: 

• Navy slacks, shorts, jumpers, dresses, skirts, skorts, slacks, or capris
• Navy, white, evergreen, light gray, light yellow, light blue, or light pink sweaters, dress shirts, or knit shirts with a collared shirt
• Canterbury School sweatshirts in approved school colors (navy, white, evergreen, light gray, light yellow, light blue, or light pink) with a collared shirt
• Shoes or sneakers
• Skirts, dresses, and shorts must be at least mid-thigh length
• No spaghetti straps or halter tops

School Dress: Wednesdays and Field Studies
On Wednesdays, and other designated days, students wear “school dress.” This consists of navy blue slacks or shorts with a white shirt for boys, and navy blue slacks, shorts, capris, skirts or jumpers with a white blouse for girls. Navy blue and white clothing should be solid colors (no stripes, polka dots, plaid, etc.).

Friday Spirit Days
On Fridays, students are welcome to wear Canterbury spirit shirts with jeans (no holes or rips). Of course, students can also come in regular daily uniform.

Uniform for Physical Education
Every student in Grades 3-4 must have a physical education uniform consisting of a Canterbury T-shirt, athletic shorts, white athletic socks and gym shoes (no platform sneakers). Students are expected to have sweatshirts, sweatpants and socks at school at all times.

Students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 do not change clothes for PE, but must have gym shoes and socks that remain at school for PE classes.

2023-24 Appropriate Daily Dress for Middle School Students:

• Navy or khaki slacks
• No cargo styles and no denim/jeans
• Navy or khaki dress shorts
• Must be appropriate length
• No cargo styles or denim/jeans
• Slacks or capris in navy or khaki; no cargo styles and no denim/jeans
• Dresses or jumpers in navy or khaki; must be appropriate length, collars are not required but the uniform dresses must have sleeves; jumpers must be worn with a collared shirt and the jumper straps must be a minimum of 2 inches wide; no denim/jeans
• Skirts or dress shorts in navy or khaki; must be appropriate length; no cargo styles or denim/jeans
• Dress shirts (button down), knit shirts (polo/golf style) or turtlenecks in solid-colored navy, white, evergreen, light gray, light blue, light pink or light yellow; all shirts must have full fold-over collars, be plain and non-embellished (Canterbury logos are acceptable), and be tucked in during school hours
• Sweaters (v-neck, crew neck, or cardigan) in solid-colored navy, white, evergreen, light gray or light yellow; sweaters must be worn with a collared shirt and be plain and non-embellished (Canterbury logos are acceptable)
• Canterbury school quarter-zips, sweatshirts or hoodies; must be worn with a collared shirt.
• Shoes or sneakers (no sandals, open-toed or backless shoes)

School Dress: Wednesdays
On Wednesdays and other designated days (such as any time a student leaves the campus for field studies or visits, as well as on special occasions), students will wear “school dress.” This consists of navy blue slacks or shorts, capris, skirt, jumper or shorts with a white shirt or a white blouse. Socks, tights or knee socks should be solid-colored navy or white. Canterbury sweatshirts or solid-colored white or navy sweaters may be worn with a white collared shirt as school dress. Denim/jeans material is not allowed.
