Payment options are by credit card (preferred) or by check. Payments by check are due within one week of submitting your online form in order to hold your camp spot. Camp payments are non-refundable.

Camp for Age 2 (as of June 1, 2017)

At Camp Canterbury your 2 year-old will be introduced to engaging and fun themes through outdoor exploration, classroom experiences, guided play, circle time stories and songs, art projects and movement.

About Sessions 1 and 2: Kaleidoscope World

Kaleidoscope World provides a warm and welcoming first school experience for your young learner. Each child’s vocabulary and social development will be fostered through hands-on, interactive learning among peers.


Age 3 Camps (Camp Canterbury and Yoga)

Camps for Age 3 (as of June 1, 2017)

Canterbury offers two programs for 3 year-olds: Camp Canterbury and Gymnastics. Program times are seamless, so your 3 year old may sign up for both camps. Our staffers will escort your child from Camp Canterbury to Yoga.

CAMP CANTERBURY

Begin the day with CAMP CANTERBURY. This summer experience taps into children’s sense of wonder and provides exciting daily discoveries. Children will learn from indoor and outdoor activities, including nature study, outdoor games and play, art, music and story time.

Session 1: June 21, 22, 23 (W/TH/F), 8:30 - 11 a.m.

Session 2: June 28, 29, 30 (W/TH/F), 8:30 - 11 a.m.

Session 1: Deep Down Under!

Every 3-year old will love exploring the world below the surface in this fun camp. Through digging, building, tunneling, exploring and experimenting, the hidden treasures of the natural world will be revealed to your young geologist.

Session 2: Away We Go!

Your 3-year old will explore the entertaining world of transportation. How do things move? A rowboat, a car, a bicycle? Using the senses and the power of observation, campers will investigate and learn about the vehicles that fill our roadways and land. Trains, boats and planes – all complete the experience of learning how things “go.”

YOGA

Session 1: June 21, 22, 23 (W/TH/F), 11 a.m. to Noon

Session 2: June 28, 29, 30 (W/TH/F), 11 a.m. to Noon

Do you love the serenity and calmness that yoga brings to your life? Now your child can experience the same feelings. Campers will join certified child yoga instructor Shelle Pabla as she shares yoga and mindfulness with her students. Yoga games, free imaginative play, meditation and peacetime are all part of the fun.


Age 4 Camps (Camp Canterbury, Yoga and Soccer)

Canterbury offers three program options for 4 year-olds: Camp Canterbury, Yoga and Soccer. Session 1: Ker-splosh!

Your 4-year old will love splashing through this fun camp that is all about water. Get ready to learn about animals that live in water, buoyancy and flotation, and evaporation and condensation, all while having fun and, yes, getting wet.

Session 2: Embark on a Journey!

Take off to another geographical location to explore! Four-year-olds will discover what they need to survive at this “location” and learn about the environment, culture, habitat, animals and climate. They will engage in creative activities which depict the camp’s destination.

Yoga

For "future stars" this curriculum is directed to players who are currently age 4. Ages 4 and 5 will be combined together. This camp blends active movements with soccer concepts to create a fun and exciting experience. Staffed by Canterbury School’s professional coaching staff the Junior Camp is predominantly cooperative in approach. Each session ends with a small competitive game and a cool treat! Cost includes a custom Canterbury soccer ball.

STORY TIME

Session 1: 1-1:30 p.m.

Session 2: 1-1:30 p.m.

Cost: $15 per week (M-F)

Story Time is a 30 minute Extended Care program that is offered for 4-year-olds attending either soccer or yoga. The cost is $15 per week (M-F).

Session 1: To Infinity and Beyond!

What’s the biggest thing in the world? What’s the smallest? From bugs to planets, your child will investigate and explore the abundant variety of size and nature of things in the world around us - all awhile grasping new concepts and learning skills through investigative play.

Session 2: Adventures in Story Telling

Does your child love to tell stories, play outside and have picnics? Magic will be in the air as these young storytellers open their imaginations and discover the wonders of the natural world around them. Art, character role play and outdoor exploration will help inspire every child to find a fantasy world and make-believe characters behind every leaf.

YOGA

Camp offerings are seamless so your child can sign up for Camp Canterbury and continue on to a sport camp and then to an art camp. Our staffers will escort your child to the next camp program.

BEST VALUE PRICING - $260 - all day 8:30-3:30 p.m.

We are offering a discount to campers who sign up to spend the whole day with us. The "Tuition Bundle" pricing is the best value and combines Camp Canterbury with your choice of Sport Camp and Art Camp all for $260. If you would only like to attend one or two camps in a session, we also have "A la carte" tuition pricing.

Session 1: FAMOUS ARTISTS

Let the art of the great masters inspire your creativity! Campers will explore and learn about the masterpieces of the artists we admire. The works of art by Monet, Van Gogh, O’Keefe and Picasso will be covered. Different mediums and styles of art will be introduced which will allow students to improve their artistic skills and learn about the amazing world of art through literature and hands on projects.

Session 2: SHIPWRECKED

Ahoy, Matey! It takes more than sailing and sword fights to be a pirate. Discover how to design a catapult, create a compass, build a boat, and other important pirate skills through literature and hands on activities. Eye patches and parrots not needed!

CAMP CANTERBURY GRADES 3-4

Each Camp Canterbury session features science, math, reading, social studies, and creative arts components.

Session 1: TIME TRAVELERS

Have you ever wondered what life was like when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth? How about when Columbus decided to see if the world was flat? What will life be like in one hundred years? Will we live on Mars? Campers will travel through time in their very own time machine. Explore different time periods through literature, art and hands on creations.

Session 2: AMAZING RACE

Do you love challenges? How about adventure in the world around you? Campers will race to create the summer experience of a lifetime using literature, problem based learning and fun.

SPORT CAMPS: Outdoor Games, Junior Soccer or Camp Olympics

Camp Olympics Session 1 only: June 19-23 (M-F), Noon to 1:30 p.m.

Outdoor Games or Junior Soccer Session 2 only: June 26-30 (M-F), Noon to 1:30 p.m.

Camp Olympics

Friendly competition is welcome as groups compete for the gold medal at Canterbury Camp Olympics. Students will get exposure to a variety of summer Olympic games, such as track and field events, volleyball, basketball and badminton. Let the games begin!

Outdoor Games

Forget when you were told “It’s not all fun and games!” because that’s what this camp is all about! Students will have the opportunity to learn new outdoor games, jump rope tricks, and play some traditional camp favorites like 4 Square and Capture the Flag. This camp is not to be missed for the fun, energetic, playful child in your life!

Junior Soccer

For "future stars" this curriculum is directed to players in grades 1-4. This camp blends active movements with soccer concepts to create a fun and exciting experience. Staffed by Canterbury School’s professional coaching staff the Junior Camp is predominantly cooperative in approach. Each session ends with a small competitive game and a cool treat! ARTS CAMPS - Sweetwater Music, DramaRama or Visual Arts

Sweetwater Music

Campers will learn music concepts in a fun and engaging environment through a variety of methods. Musical activities will include singing, using “boom wackers,” and learning keyboard instruments in small groups. Children will work individually to gain the skills necessary to play beginning level piano music specifically designed for their age group. In addition, campers will be exposed to percussion instruments from other cultures and countries. Everyone will be given the opportunity to learn the proper drumming techniques and develop critical listening skills as they begin to make music with one another in cooperative drum circles. Participants will create a demonstration piece that will be performed on the last day of camp for parents.

Visual Art with Troy Ganser

Join Tag Art artist Troy Ganser as he guides you through the world of art. Students will explore the world of art through past and current works. Mediums such as clay, paint and pastels will be used to guide students through the creative process.

DramaRama

Curtain call for campers with imagination! This week of play, pantomime and improvisation will be a lot of fun. Actors and actresses will create their own characters, write and act out original stories, and invent commercials. Jeanne Imler, Youth Theater and Canterbury drama teacher, invites parents to attend the special command performance at the end of the week.


Grades 5-8 Camps

Creative Arts Camp Grades 5-8

Designed for students in grades 5-8 for the 2017-2018 school year.

Join us this summer, and flex your creative muscles through film making, design thinking, and art projects. Learn filmmaking techniques with Mr. King and make your own movie masterpieces as you explore different genres. Produce amazing works of art with various mediums and take home some of your terrific treasures with Ms. Kirkland. Challenge yourself by using teamwork, your imagination, and plenty of duct tape to build contraptions to solve design challenges that connect to real-world problems with Mr. Torwelle. This camp is sure to make you think outside of the box as you create stories and art pieces to make the world a more inspired place!


Edible Garden Science Camp - Grades 7-8

Designed for students in grades 7-8 for the 2017-2018 school year.

Learn to grow and grow to learn with a Master Gardener during our week long edible summer camp. Students will be working in the garden, learning to plant, care for, harvest, process, and prepare fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Join us for field trips to various community farms and enjoy a “Farm to Fork” chef prepared lunch. Participants will also learn about biodiversity and environmentally friendly practices and walk away with a green thumb.

Adventure Camp

Designed for students in grades 5-8 for the 2017-2018 school year.

This will be a fun-filled week of adventure. Students will experience hiking, boating, swimming and other activities throughout the week. Each day's activities and location will be a surprise! Rube Goldberg Makers Camp

Designed for students in grades 5-8 for the 2017-2018 school year.

This camp is perfect for creative, imaginative students who want to explore how things work. In this one week camp, we will be looking at Rube Goldberg machines - machines that use a series of self-run chain reactions to perform an extremely simple task in an extremely complicated way. Goldberg machines are all over today, in music videos, commercials, and on YouTube. We will look at examples, then create our very own machines. Students will have a great time playing around with different materials and using both their hands and their minds to figure out creative solutions. This is a wonderful and fun application of STEM Learning, teaching students Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in a different, interactive setting. By the end of camp, we will have our very own machine to show parents in action on the final day.

Do you want to learn to play chess? Do you want to improve your game? Choose chess this summer. Lead instructor FIDE Master Jim Dean is an Indiana state chess champion and is the coach of Canterbury’s award-winning chess club. All aspects of the game will be covered, including tactics, strategies, piece and rule fundamentals, openings and middle- and end-game theories. Equipment and snacks will be provided. Soccer and Tennis Camps (ages 8-14)

All Day Soccer Camp

Ages 8-14 (as of June 1, 2017)
Session 1: June 19-23 (MF) 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Tuition $220
(includes T-Shirt and Canterbury Soccer Ball) Pack a lunch and bring a water bottle. Gym shoes are needed for all campers (no cleats indoors). Campers may also bring soccer cleats and shin guards.

ALL DAY SOCCER CAMP

For boys and girls ages 8-14 (as of June 1, 2017), this camp curriculum offers challenging activities structured to be appropriate for the beginner as well as the more advanced player. Including games designed to develop soccer skills, tactics and strategies, this camp day keeps campers engaged throughout and ends with several competitions to challenge individuals and teams to succeed.

Tennis Camp

Grades 3-8 (for the 2017-2018 school year)

Session 1: June 19-23 (MF)

Grades 3-5: 3:30-5 p.m.

Grades 6-8: 5-6:30 p.m.

TENNIS CAMP (grades 3-8)

Jerry Gerig, USPTA tennis professional and Hall of Fame coach, is the director of Canterbury’s tennis program, which is held on the High School campus. Before coming to Canterbury 19 years ago, Jerry taught tennis at Fort Wayne Country Club for several years. Jerry coaches the boys and girls High School teams at Canterbury as well as the Middle School teams.
