Cavs drop first match of the season

August 30th 2008

Playing their 4th match in 5 days, Canterbury’s boys soccer team had perhaps its toughest matchup of the season Saturday at the Brebeuf Invitational in Indianapolis. The boys weren’t able to hold off hard-charging St. Ignatius Prep, ranked #19 in the nation in one preseason poll, and dropped a 2-1 decision earlier today. Senior forward Nick Wilson scored the Cavs’ only goal, with the assist going to Tyler Huber; senior goalkeeper Thane Campbell hauled in 12 saves. But the Cavaliers’ tired legs weren’t enough to keep St. Ignatius off the scoreboard, as they rebounded from a 1-0 halftime deficit to deal Canterbury its first loss; the Cavs’ record sits at 3-1-2.
