Get ready for the 23rd annual Summer Camp Fair on Sunday, March 4, 2012!

This is a free community event that brings camps and summer programs from around the state and beyond all in one location to make planning summer adventures a breeze for area families.

S ummer brings the promise of so many opportunities for children: adventure, learning, excitement and growth. “Parents can realize this potential by planning a diverse and fun array of activities for the entire summer in just one afternoon at the 23rd annual Summer Camp Fair, which brings camp directors and summer program leaders from around the country to one location,” said Karen Belcher, coordinator for the event.

The Summer Camp Fair will be held noon-3 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Canterbury Middle School, 5601 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The event is free and open to the public.

“Camps from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan will be at the Summer Camp Fair, offering choices parents might not otherwise be aware of or have access to,” said Belcher.

These include overnight camps and day camps with programs for the outdoors, academics, athletics, computers, arts, horseback riding, theatre, foreign languages, special needs and more.
Throughout the afternoon, parents will be able to ask questions one-on-one with camp representatives and take home program literature. They can learn about possible scholarship opportunities and early bird discounts offered by various camps to help with costs. Families also may register for door prizes and receive a free camp directory.

“We will have an activity area for kids and there will be popcorn and free door prizes,” said Belcher.
“It’s a simple way for busy parents to plan an active summer for children as young as age 2 all the way through teenagers in high school.”

The Camp Fair is organized by Canterbury School and cosponsored by the American Camp Association, Indiana, and Indiana's NewsCenter.
