SCRIP GUIDELINES

SCRIP may be purchased in three ways

1.  Complete the SCRIP order form. Bring the form and your check, made out to “Canterbury SCRIP,” to the LS, MS or HS office on Monday morning by 9 a.m. (Your order may be sent to school with your child; however, we are unable to process orders received after 9 a.m.) Using this method, your choices of product are limited to those listed on the order form. Orders will be available for pick up on Fridays.

2.   Place your order online at www.shopwithscrip.com. You may pay using “PrestoPay” (direct debit from your bank account) or bring a check to any office by 9 a.m. Monday. Setting up “PrestoPay” takes just a few minutes and requires entering your bank routing number and account number. The entire process to set up your account takes one to three days. The Canterbury SCRIP enrollment number is B45DLB7C28527. Using this method, you may choose from the hundreds of vendor options listed online. Orders will be picked up on Friday as listed above.

3.   Purchase SCRIP at the Canterbury SCRIP Store during store hours. Using this method, your choices of product will be limited to the items we have in inventory.

ABOUT SCRIP

SCRIP is cash. Once SCRIP gift cards are picked up, the school cannot be responsible if the gift cards are lost. For this reason, SCRIP orders will not be sent home with students and must be picked up at the designated time as listed above. You will be asked to sign upon receipt of your order.

The  SCRIP PROGRAM AGREEMENT must be completed prior to placing an order by anyone who wishes to participate in the SCRIP program. This form simply indicates whether you would like the contribution portion to benefit your family, another family or the school. Your election is valid for the entire SCRIP year (June 1 - May 31). If you wish to change your contribution designation, we can accommodate your request at the start of the following year.

Enrolling at www.shopwithscrip.com

Enrolling at www.shopwithscrip.com is a one- to three-day process. Once that process is complete, you will be able to place orders online choosing from the hundreds of stores offered. When shopping online, payment will be made through either direct withdrawal from your checking account or by check. If you choose to pay by check, your check must be received by Monday at 9 a.m. in any school office. Orders will still be picked up during Friday SCRIP Store hours, 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the MS Ash Commons.

Follow these instructions to set up your on-line account. Within three days, your account will be active and you will be able to place an order.

SCRIP Pick Up Options

For the majority of Canterbury families

SCRIP orders can be picked up in the MS Ash Commons on Fridays during SCRIP store hours, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

For LS/MS Bus Riders

SCRIP orders may be sent home with LS/MS students who ride the bus home from school.  SCRIP volunteers will find your child at the bus loading area after school.  We will have your child sign for the order and place the order in their backpack.  If you wish to use this option, please complete the following form and submit it with your next order: SCRIP pick up for Bus Riders Form.  By signing this form, you accept responsibility for the order once it has been placed in your child's possession.

For LS/MS Students in Aftercare

For families with two working parents and LS/MS students in Aftercare, a parent will be able to pick their order in the Lower School EDC before 5:30 p.m. on Friday.  A parent will need to complete the following form and submit it with your next order: SCRIP pick up for Aftercare. Parents of MS students will need to go to the EDC to pick up their order.

For HS Bus Riders or HS Students Picking up Orders

HS Bus Riders and HS Students with parental permission may pick up SCRIP orders in the HS office after 3:15 p.m. on Friday.  Parents will need to complete the following form and submit it with your next order: SCRIP pick up by HS student.  Parents should remember that SCRIP is cash.  If your HS student has after school activities on Friday, your SCRIP order should be locked in a locker during after school activities.

SCRIP TIPS

Use these great ideas to get more out of your SCRIP purchases! If you discover any other SCRIP TIPS, please let us know so we can share your ideas with other Canterbury families. You can contact us at pmteel@yahoo.com or jghaines@gmail.com.

  • Did you know you can buy postage stamps at Walgreens and Office Depot? Buy SCRIP and purchase your stamps at one of these locations.

  • You can use Lands’ End SCRIP (16% rebate) at Sears! Sears and Lands’ End are affiliated but why use Sears SCRIP (only 4% rebate) when you can use Lands’ End SCRIP and earn a larger rebate? You can use Lands’ End for all your purchases at Sears including tools and appliances.

  • Purchasing supplies for your business? Or gift cards for your employees? Use SCRIP for your business needs and credit the rebate to your child’s tuition account.

  • Here is a way to double dip at Kohl’s. Go ahead and use your Kohl’s card to do your shopping and earn Kohl’s cash during special promotions. When it’s time to pay your Kohl’s charge account bill, purchase Kohl’s SCRIP and pay your Kohl’s bill at the in-store customer service counter.Taking a vacation? Use SCRIP to pay for hotels, gas, rental cars, fast food, plane tickets, cruises, and don’t forget Disney! Avis Car Rental, Budget Car Rental, American Airlines, Marriott, Comfort Suites, Hyatt, Holiday Inn, Hilton, Carnival and Celebrity Cruise Lines, and Disney are all supporters of SCRIP! Sign up on-line at www.shopwithscrip.com to see all the available vendors.

  • Is it time to replace your refrigerator? Planning on some remodelng? Purchase your major appliances and remodeling supplies at Home Depot (5%), Lowe’s (4%) or Sears (don’t forget to use Lands’ End SCRIP 16% at Sears).

  • Office Depot is a great place to double dip. When it’s time to check out, pay for your purchases with Office Depot SCRIP (of course!) and ask to have your purchases credited to Canterbury School.  The clerk will look up our account number and Canterbury will automatically receive a credit!

  • Caution : If you see an item at an on-line retailer and purchase SCRIP to pay for it, be warned that the on-line sale (or the size you wanted!) may no longer be available the time you receive your order on Friday.

  • We know you love your latte! You can use Starbucks gift cards to load your Gold Card. You don’t have to give up your 10% discount and all the other Gold Card perks. Phew!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q

What is SCRIP?

A

SCRIP is a vendor rebate program used by schools, sport clubs, churches and other non-profit organizations to raise money using merchant certificates. SCRIP offers your family the opportunity to purchase gift cards for things you use every day like gas, clothing, groceries and dining. Retailers that participate in the SCRIP program reward your loyalty to their stores by providing a rebate to the school. Canterbury will, in turn, reward your participation in the SCRIP program by allowing you to apply 50 percent of that rebate toward your tuition bill in the following school year.

Q

Where do SCRIP certificates come from?

A

The certificates sold through the Canterbury Parent Association SCRIP Program come directly from the retailers. The certificates are the same gift cards you would buy if you went to the participating retailer and purchased them yourself.

Q

Is there a cost to participate?

A

No. There are absolutely no costs to participate. Participation in the SCRIP program is completely voluntary. The only “cost” - if there is one - is the preplanning required to purchase the gift cards you need.

Q

How can I buy SCRIP?

A

SCRIP may be purchased in the following three ways:
• Via the Monday order form
• On-line at www.shopwithscrip.com
• At the Friday SCRIP Store

Q

Can I pay for SCRIP with a credit card?

A

Unfortunately, the Parent Association cannot accept credit card payments for SCRIP orders. The only acceptable forms of payment are cash, check and direct debit from your checking account (if you are ordering via www.shopwithscrip.com).

Q

What if my check is returned due to insufficient funds?

A

A $30 charge will be assessed to any orders paid with checks that are returned due to insufficient funds. This fee is in addition to any fee your bank may charge. In addition, the order in question will be held until the $30 insufficient funds fee is paid and the order total is paid in cash. Upon a second returned check, you will only be permitted to pay for your orders in cash.

Q

Do I have to order every week?

A

No. There are no requirements for ordering. You can order as frequently or infrequently as you like.

Q

Who can buy SCRIP?

A

All Canterbury families, staff, faculty and friends are welcome to purchase SCRIP.

Q

What if the SCRIP store hours do not work for me?

A

There are three alternatives available to picking up your SCRIP order during Friday Store hours. Each option requires the parent to complete the appropriate waiver or form. If your child rides the bus home from school, SCRIP can be delivered to your student in the bus loading area. Parents with LS and MS students staying for Aftercare may pick up their SCRIP order in the EDC before 5:30 p.m. on Friday. And HS students, with appropriate permission, may pick up SCRIP orders in the HS office after 3:15 p.m. on Friday. See the SCRIP Options Tab above for full details and forms.

Q

What if the gift cards get lost?

A

SCRIP is considered cash and should be treated as such. Unfortunately, the school cannot be responsible if gift cards are lost while in your possession.

Q

Who do I contact with questions about SCRIP?

A

Direct any questions concerning the SCRIP program to Jennifer Haines at jghaines@mac.com or Tish Teel at pmteel@yahoo.com. They will respond promptly to your requests.
