One Win Away from Sectional Champs

Canterbury Boys' Soccer gave the crowd an exciting victory over Argos on Wednesday evening, sending the Cavaliers into the Sectional Championship on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Canterbury High School.  Seniors Zachary Hobbs and Luke Ruediger expect an excellent game.

Zachary Hobbs has been a student at Canterbury for 16 years and has been playing soccer for nearly 12 years.

What's your favorite thing about playing on the Canterbury team?
My favorite thing is the camaraderie the team has together. 

What are your expectations for the rest of this season?
I expect that we give it our all every game and hopefully go far. 

What is your favorite Canterbury sports memory?
My favorite memory was winning state freshman year. It was truly a special experience that I will remember my entire life. 

What other Canterbury sports or activities are you involved in?
Besides soccer I am also the leader of the horticulture club at Canterbury. 

Luke Ruediger has been a student at Canterbury for five years. He has played soccer since Grade 7 and has been on Canterbury's varsity soccer team since freshman year.

What's your favorite thing about playing on the Canterbury team?
My favorite thing about playing on the Canterbury team is the sense of camaraderie. Everyone has their own strengths and we all respect each other's unique strengths. Together these unique strengths make us the strong team that we are. 

What are your expectations for the rest of this season?
We are a phenomenal team this year! I expect us to continue to grow as we battle our way to state and hopefully win!

What is your favorite Canterbury sports memory?
My favorite Canterbury sports memory was when I was a new student at Canterbury. I went onto the soccer field for the first time and the student section started cheering my name. It made me feel like a part of Canterbury.

What other Canterbury sports or activities are you involved in?
I am involved in the Diversity Committee, the BSU, the GSA, the Yearbook Club, the Untitled Paper, and the Environmental Club. I also run track in the spring.
