Canterbury Musicians Featured

Canterbury Reports
January 13, 2021

On Monday, January 11, the High School Orchestra and Camerata were both featured in the monthly musical program for the Fort Wayne Alumni Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music service fraternity for women.

"They filled a hole for us with their music, and we had no idea how much we needed to hear them," said SAI officer Ginny Johnson. "We loved their music!"

Canterbury students performed Nightfall by Japanese female composer Yukiko Nishimura and a movement from Mozart's Third Divertimento. Instructor Colleen Tan also played a piece by African American Composer Florence Price for the program with pianist Susan Dorion.

The performances were pre-recorded and then shared on the remote/virtual meeting. The SAI sisters were very impressed with the student performances, and the students were grateful to have a public performance and be of service to the community. The SAI sisters particularly appreciated the students' efforts in light of the pandemic and the lack of concerts at this time to attend.

Congratulations to Canterbury musicians who were a part of such a special program! Thanks for making Canterbury proud!
