Patrick Collins '28 loves to swim, and last weekend he competed in the Indiana state tournament, bringing home multiple championships. Congratulations, Patrick! We asked the Grade 5 student a few questions about his life as a swimmer.

What made you want to be a swimmer?
My grandparents own a pool, and I always like being in the water.

When did you first start swimming?
I joined my first swim team when I was 6 years old, and started swimming year-round when I was 7.

Who inspires you?
Michael Phelps, Cody Miller, and Caleb Drexel. My favorite Michael Phelps quote is, "If you want to be the best you have to do things other people aren't willing to do."

What are your dreams for swimming?
To become the best swimmer and to go to the Olympics.

What is the toughest part about swimming (that most people wouldn't know)?
Doing your homework at 8 o'clock at night after swim practice.
It has a lot of precise technical things you have to do that make it very uncomfortable.

Anything else you'd like to add?
Fun fact: I eat a Hershey with almonds every meet.
