Sophomore Gabe Gabriel attended a news conference with his family and HS advisor Pascal Losambe on Thursday. Gabe was one of four area students to receive the Taylor Award for Safe Driving, which is a scholarship for driver's education courses. Winners were chosen through an essay contest. The award is named for former Allen County deputy coroner Ralph Taylor, who started Drive Alive in 2005. Taylor died in 2009. Drive Alive is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing distractive driving among teenagers, and providing resources for parents who are assisting children in learning to drive.
