Camp Fair March 2008

About 160 families and 42 camps were on hand at the 19th annual Summer Camp Discoveries Fair, located at Canterbury High School on March 2. This event helps parents plan a summer’s worth of fun and activities in one afternoon. The camps and summer programs were located in one place to answer questions and to share information. Many of the camps had activities for kids to do at the camp fair. Plus there were door prizes and popcorn. Camps and summer programs are available for all budgets, and for kids and teens of all ages from 2 all the way up through high school.

Summer brings the promise of so many opportunities for children: adventure, learning, excitement and growth. Parents can realize this potential by planning a diverse and fun array of activities for the entire summer in just one afternoon at the 19th annual Summer Camp Discoveries Fair. This community event brings camp directors and summer program leaders from around the country to one location. The Summer Camp Discoveries Fair will be held noon-4 p.m. March 2 at Canterbury High School, 3210 Smith Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

A variety of camps will be represented, including theatre/drama, outdoors, academic, athletic, artistic, foreign language, special needs and more. Parents will be able to ask questions one-on-one with camp representatives and take home program literature. Here they can learn about possible scholarship opportunities offered by various camps to help with costs. Families also can register for door prizes and receive a free copy of the American Camp Association’s CAMP Magazine.

It’s a simple way for busy parents to plan a super summer for children as young as 2 through high school.

The Camp Fair is organized by Canterbury School and cosponsored by the Fort Wayne YMCA; the American Camp Association, Indiana; and Indiana's News Center.
