A child’s personal development is as important as his or her academic progress. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded education for each student. This includes helping them to develop a lifelong love of the arts, speak a foreign language, and experience personal successes in the areas of math and science. The specials classes supplement our traditional academics courses and are taught by specialists in each field.

Additionally, Lower School students have some unique opportunities during the school day in the area of the arts.
Strings
All students in Grade 3 become acquainted with the violin, viola and cello. Students may then choose to continue with a string instrument in Grade 4 and perform during the Lower School Musical.
Lower School Musical
Each year the arts teachers work with classroom teachers on the Lower School Musical. The entire Lower School participates in the musical, giving performances for the Middle School, grandparents and family. The musical is three stories in one acted out by each fourth grade class. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 participate in production numbers – singing and dancing throughout the musical. Students also help paint the sets for the musical and do set crew.
Canterbury Children’s Choir
Students in grades 2-4 are invited to become members of the Canterbury Children’s Choir. Students practice on Wednesday mornings before Chapel and perform throughout the year as requested by outside organizations, at All School Chapels, the Spring Luncheon and A Canterbury Christmas at Trinity.
