Canterbury School students and faculty are a talented bunch -- in the classroom, on the stage, in competition and on the field. Read on for a sample of their many awards and honors, knowing that there inevitably are more than even this list can summarize!

Middle School Cheerleaders bring home awards

This summer, Canterbury was represented by 12 girls with a lot of spirit at its first UCA (Universal Cheerleader’s Association) camp at Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana. In attendance were Courtney Colby, Megan Eggebrecht, Anya Gouloff, Hannah Horsfall, Lucy Galliher, Shannon Glismann, Hannah Jewett, Haley Myers, Carolynn Stouder, Sydney Borror, Katie Fredrick and Zoe Parker, accompanied by Mrs. Shawnda Hamilton. From July 7 through July 10 the girls worked to learn new cheers, chants, dances and safety building skills to prepare themselves for this coming basketball season.

Additionally they earned the following awards:

  • Extreme Dance Routine – 1st place – Jr. High Division
  • Cheer Routine – 2nd place – Jr. High Division
  • Slow Motion Slam Dunk Contest (Megan Eggebrecht and Anya Gouloff) – 1st place
  • Hip Hop Routine Dance (Hannah Horsfall) – 1st place

Plus, the four eighth graders competed for camp All-Stars, performing their best jump, and competing with a dance and a cheer. Megan Eggebrecht received one of eight awards, competing against all junior high, freshmen, JV and varsity girls eligible. The Canterbury squad was voted most improved overall. The most coveted award was presented the last day, and it was the final award given. The “big banana” goes home with the squad that displays the best attitude and spirit throughout the week. This year that group was Canterbury.
