Don't miss The Lion King JR on stage in the Middle School Auditorium. Tickets will be on sale at the door for the 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18 performances. Job Opportunity: Assistant Director of Development

 

Canterbury School seeks an Assistant Director of Development to manage all aspects of Canterbury's two primary fundraising vehicles - the annual fund and our annual gala, Laughing Cavalier. Candidates should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, event planning experience and 3-5 years of proven success in fundraising.  Recruiting and working closely with volunteers are key skill sets. The Assistant Director will work with the Director of Development to steward the school's relationships with its various constituencies. Speech Team places fourth at State

The Speech and Debate Team was on the road again, this time to the State Tournament at Fishers High School. They placed fourth in the competition. Following are the results:

Photography selected for National Exhibit

Senior Erin Belcher's photographs have been displayed in three regional and one national exhibit since the start of 2017. She is in the Honors Photography course with teacher Stephen Perfect. Her photo titled Trapped was selected to be part of a national exhibit at Drexel University. Students from 235 high schools in 34 states submitted more than 1,900 photographs for the competition. The Drexel program accepted 120 for the exhibition. Erin traveled to Philadelphia for the opening gallery reception in the College of Media Arts and Design to accept her certificate of achievement. Additionally, she has two photos on display at the Garrett Museum of Art, four photos at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and one photo at the Rolland Gallery at the University of Saint Francis.     

 
 
 
 

Sixth grader ties for 3rd in spelling bee

 
 

We've been following Madeline Phuong as she has spelled her way from the sixth grade bee to become champion of the Middle School to victorious at the Allen County Bee. Last weekend Madeline represented both Allen County and Canterbury School. She spelled her way to a third place finish (four-way tie) in the Regional Bee. Madeline has set a new school record in being the first student from Canterbury to make it this far in the spelling bee competitions.

Kindergartners study spatial reasoning

Kindergarten students have been exploring spatial reasoning during Math Enrichment class. "Research has shown a strong correlation between a student's spatial reasoning and their future math abilities," said Kelly Madarang, math specialist. "Spatial ability is strongly linked to success in areas of science, technology, engineering and art."  There are endless possibilities for careers that involve spatial reasoning skills including architect, physicist, engineer, designer, artist, pilot and photographer, just to name a few.

Who will take home bragging rights this year? Canterbury alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends are invited to this team trivia game! Join us for the 3rd annual Trivia Night Saturday, April 22. Doors open at 6 p.m., games begin at 7 p.m.. The evening will feature a variety of trivia categories for prizes. $15 per player or $125 per team table of 10 players. Team themes are encouraged, but are not required. If you don't have a full team, we will create one for you. Carry in food for your table. This event takes place in the Middle School gym.
