Canterbury School believes the cost of an independent school education should not be a deterrent to prospective families. For the 2007-2008 school year, Canterbury awarded more than $900,000 in financial assistance to approximately 23 percent of the student body.
The average household income for Canterbury School financial aid recipients for the 2007-2008 school year was more than $74,786. The median household income was $70,275. The average need-based scholarship during 2007-2008 was approximately $5,342.
Financial aid is given on the basis of need as determined by an independent analysis of a family’s resources and commitments. For families unable to pay full tuition, the Financial Aid Committee attempts to supply the balance through a tuition grant. An applicant must first be accepted for admission, and because financial aid is limited, an early application is advisable. In addition to financial aid given on the basis of need (available for grades K-12), merit scholarships are available for grades 9-12. Families of students in grades K-12 can apply for financial aid.
Please note that there are no full scholarships awarded. All applications for financial aid are held in the strictest of confidence. Please call our admissions office at 260-407-3553 to learn more about the costs of and opportunities for a Canterbury education.
Upon acceptance, students must submit with the enrollment contract a nonrefundable reservation deposit of 10 percent of the annual tuition.
