How to Apply

  1. Application form

    The application must be completed and sent to the admissions office accompanied by a nonrefundable fee and a recent photograph to begin the admission process. Fees are $75 for Kindergarten and $35 for Early Childhood and grades 1-12.

  2. Transcript

    The applicant or the applicant's school should send current transcript or school record from the applicant’s current school to the admissions office. (This is not necessary for Early Childhood applicants.)

  3. Letters of recommendation

    Two or three recommendations are required. Confidential recommendation forms will be mailed directly to the references listed on the student’s application to be completed and returned to Canterbury. (This is not necessary for Early Childhood applicants.)

  4. Admissions test

    Testing is required of all applicants. This includes general aptitude and achievement tests prepared by the Education Records Bureau (ERB). No special preparation is required. For Kindergarten, developmental and aptitude assessments are given. (This is not necessary for Early Childhood applicants.)

  5. Student visits

    Applicants requesting admission to grades 5-8 (Middle School) and 9-12 (High School) are required to spend at least one day attending classes at Canterbury. Applicants requesting admission to grades 1-4 (Lower School) typically spend two days at Canterbury. Kindergarten applicants visit for half of a day. Early Childhood visits are scheduled for 45 minutes in the classroom with parent and child.
