Canterbury Scholar Competition

All area eighth graders (for the 2013-2014 school year) are invited to participate in the Canterbury Scholar Competition October 2013. Please share this information with friends and family.

The Canterbury Scholar Competition is an opportunity for area eighth graders to compete for scholarships to attend Canterbury High School beginning in their freshman year. The morning of the Canterbury Scholar Competition, students will take part in a standardized test and write an essay. All participating students and their parents will have the opportunity to schedule a conference to review the results. While the eighth graders are testing, their parents will attend an informational session explaining what to look forward to at Canterbury High School. Each participant will schedule a day to return to Canterbury to attend classes with a Canterbury freshman and interview with school representatives.

Competition Info


As many as ten $8,000 scholarships toward Canterbury High School tuition will be awarded in this special opportunity ($2,000 for each year of High School).

Awards will be based on standardized testing, an essay, school transcripts and a personal interview.

Parents of participants are invited to visit the High School campus to meet Canterbury faculty and students during the competition. You'll learn about our college-preparatory curriculum, athletics, fine arts opportunities and extra-curriculum programs.

In addition to scholarship awards, need based financial aid is available to all participants who qualify.

Canterbury's 2011-2012 financial aid commitment for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 was more than $1.8 million with approximately 28 percent of the student body benefiting.
