Enrichment & Extended Care

Canterbury’s Enrichment and Extended Care Programs offer additional educational and social programs to complement a student’s school day schedule. High level play and learning goals are integrated into the programs to promote intellectual curiosity, creativity and augment academic skills. Activities take place in the school’s Corner House and Club House.

This year we are offering a Full Day Bundle Plan to Cavaliers, Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Prep students. The “Full Day Bundle” includes Lunch Bunch, Discovery or Studio Time or Prep Enrichment for the entire school year on the days students are enrolled in school (it does not include the tuition for school.) If you sign up for the Full Day Bundle Plan, you also will have the option of including Early Bird/ABC Extended Care and Lunch Bunch Specials (Dance, Soccer and Chess) for the year at a 10 percent discount.

By signing up for the Full Day Bundle, you receive a 10 percent discount over the a la carte prices.

This plan is best for families who know they want a full school day experience for their students for the entire year on the days they are enrolled to attend school. Payment is made by check/cash or it can be included as an incidental item in your FACTS monthly payment plan.

A la carte, monthly signup for programming is available to all Early Childhood students who are a minimum age of 2.5 years old. Register and pay monthly online at www.canterburyschool.org/forms.

Discovery Time

Discovery Time is a platform for learning in a safe and nurturing environment. Each week new activities are presented and are related to the alphabet. The lessons are planned to develop the children’s social and fundamental skills and include eye-hand coordination, etiquette, and organizational skills. Science projects, flying kites, baking, painting, and nature walks are among the various engaging activities which are offered in this enrichment program. Questions? Contact Jennie Crandal (260-417-4582). Cost: $15/daily.

Art - Science Conservatory

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 9-11 a.m. or 1-3 p.m.
Cavaliers, Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten Prep
This creative and educational program contains a multi-skilled, planned lesson based around a specific art activity. Depending on the project, activities can last one or multiple days. Each week a new theme unwraps itself through books, music, games, photos and, ultimately, the art projects. The program supports the premise that children’s art should come from their hands. Their artistic expressions are valuable and important in exploring new mediums and taking joy in creating.

The students develop new skills such as the use of lines, shapes, colors, and repeated patterns, painting techniques, fine motor skills, working in two and three dimensions, and art history. Nature, which can be viewed through “Art Eyes,” holidays and cultural differences are all inspirational to the projects.

Lunch Bunch
